Eurovision Top 20 Most Watched: September 2023 | #unitedbymusic

Join in using the hashtag: #eurovisiontop20

Each month we’ll count down the 20 most watched videos on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel. The chart will include official music videos, national final/live/preview performances and, of course, Eurovision Song Contest performances (combining Grand Final, Semi-Final and Winners Performances; consistent with our chart counts from previous years), and taking a slightly longer look at the new entries and climbers.

Data is compiled using the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel views from the calendar month just gone, and we’re taking January 2020 as the starting point for our charts.

Unless we’re avoiding national finals or important announcements (or we're in the middle of a Eurovision Song Contest), the Eurovision Top 20 Most Watched will (usually) premiere on the first Thursday of each month at 200 CET.

Winner's Press Conference 2021

Italy's #Måneskin shared their reaction to winning the 2021 #eurovision Song Contest in the winner's press conference immediately after the Grand Final.

Måneskin’s vocalist Damiano, bassist Victoria, guitarist Thomas and drummer Ethan, marched triumphantly into the press conference at Rotterdam Ahoy, looking very much like the life-long pals they are:

'We’re four friends playing the music we love, ' said lead singer Damiano when asked what had gone through their mind when they realised they’d won the #eurovisionsongcontest. 'All our hard work finally made sense.'

Hard work has clearly been a huge part of Italy’s path to Eurovision glory, and tonight it paid off. Whilst they were only in third place after the jury votes, the public vote pushed them into first place over France by a margin of 25 points.

'It means everything’ added Victoria, when asked what that public push meant to them.

That wasn’t all we learned about Måneskin during the press conference – they plan to celebrate by jumping in the river, and they loved being part of the Eurovision bubble – 'it’s one of the friendliest environments ever’. Their favourite song this year was Go_A’s Shum from Ukraine, who placed 5th.

So what’s next for Måneskin? The band confirmed a tour starting in December and more new music. But 'no more musical competitions for a while’ (they’ve now competed in X Factor, Sanremo and Eurovision), added lead singer Damiano. 'It’s too much anxiety.'

Victoria shared her thoughts on what she thought made some acts more successful at Eurovision than others:

'It’s a Contest. Someone has to come last, but even so, it should be more about participating and sharing music with the world. We didn’t come here to win – we came to share our music. Eurovision is a huge and important platform.'

She also shared her thoughts on why it was so important for the band to defy gender stereotypes: 'people need to open their minds and stop judging others.'

Damiano added: 'We just want to thank all the artists that shared their music through this huge event.'

To wrap up the press conference, Eurovision Executive Supervisor Martin Österdahl congratulated Måneskin on their win, told them they were forever in the history books and handed Italian broadcasters RAI their Eurovision welcome pack – the beginning of their journey to hosting the #eurovisionsongcontest2022 would begin in the morning.

Congratulations ITALY: #Måneskin win #eurovision Song Contest 2021

Måneskin have won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 for Italy with their song Zitti E Buoni.

Italy’s Måneskin have come out on top in what was one of the most hotly contested #eurovisionsongcontests ever.

Switzerland won the jury vote in which #italy came fourth, but the 4-piece Italian rock band won the public vote by a landslide, scoring a total of 529 points and leaving Switzerland in 3rd place behind France.

Måneskin is a critically acclaimed band featuring vocalist Damiano, bassist Victoria, guitarist Thomas and Ethan on drums. They took their band name from the Danish word for ‘moonlight’, as a tribute to their bassist Victoria’s home country.

#voicefortheplanet: WWF and Eurovision collaborate with Armin van Buuren

As you’ll know, the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) has joined forces with the cultural phenomenon that is the Eurovision Song Contest to give a voice to the planet and all those who depend on and care about our shared home.

World famous DJ and WWF Ambassador, Armin van Buuren, kicked off the collaboration by switching Rotterdam’s famous Erasmus Bridge lights to green on May 15.

He will be accompanied by Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor for the Eurovision Song Contest, Kirsten Schuijt CEO WWF-NL and Bert Wijbenga, the vice mayor of Rotterdam, as together they speak up for nature by signing the global petition #voicefortheplanet.

The special event will be streamed on the Eurovision virtual village on May 15.

The goal is to collect one million voices on the website created especially for the occasion: voicefortheplanet.eu. This show of support to save our planet will be presented to world leaders at the United Nations Biodiversity Convention in October this year, and also at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in November.

Via TikTok, Armin van Buuren will call on viewers to sing, dance or duet on his track Million Voices via the #voicefortheplanet challenge.

Armin explains:

When I think of the voice of our planet, I think of Sir David Attenborough. He’s inspired me greatly throughout the years, helping me see how precious life on earth is and that we should do everything in our power to save it. And I believe we all have that power; as long as we stand together, we’re able to inspire change and make a difference. That’s why I’m calling on all of my fans to sign the global #voicefortheplanet petition and let their voice be heard.

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, added:

We are really excited to partner with WWF this year and support their Voice for the Planet campaign. The Eurovision Song Contest is all about using the sound of the human voice to unite the world and we know the millions of fans watching will want to raise their voices to support a sustainable future.

You can visit the Eurovision Village now.
